Student Ambassador Recruitment

April, 2012

We did not have the necessary ten students show interest in traveling to Greifswald, Germany in June, 2012.  After three very successful student exchange trips in the last five years our Greifswald counterparts suggested  an adult trip in September, 2012.  Please see the notice on the Meetings, Travel Opportunities, and Events page.

Below is the outline of our student trips which we may offer in the future.

BCS Sister Cities seeks ten student ambassadors who are current 9th or 10th graders in Bryan or College Station.  Selected students and two adult chaperones will travel to Greifswald, Germany in June for a two week home-stay with a English speaking German student.  This cultural exchange program seeks to promote peace through mutual respect and understanding of others. The German students will return to BCS during the following Spring for a two week exchange staying in their American student’s home.

This unique opportunity attracts mature young students who have a strong desire for foreign travel in a protected environment.  Students who have previously participated have often incorporated this experience into their university majors of international relations, language studies, and political science.  This program requires a family commitment to host the German student when in the US along with participation in their group activities.   The approximate cost varies each year reflective of airfares, transfers, and some activities.
