We have just completed a very successful adult exchange week with our newest Sister City of Salamanca, Mexico.  A delegation of eight adults visited Bryan-College Station last week.  The group toured many local businesses, the Texas A&M Health Science Center, the Arts Council, and city offices.  A strategic planning session concluded their visit.  Many possibilities exist for further collaboration and exchanges.

B-CS has finished another exciting year of adult and student exchange programs promoting cultural understanding, fellowship, and economic opportunity.

Our adult delegation of civic, business, and university leaders traveled to Salamanca, Mexico in April,  2010. The group toured business, academic, and cultural sites with gracious local hosts.  Many fruitful connections were made.  The Salamanca group will visit the B-CS area in September, 2010.

July, 2010

Seven B-CS high school students and four adult sponsors traveled to Greifswald, Germany for a two week home stay.  Our group was quickly immersed in lively German culture.  Visits to the University of Greifswald, the Max Planck Institute, various art museums and historical sites filled their days.  A particular trip to an ancient castle reminded our students of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts school.  Students also traveled to the German island of Rugen to sample an icy dip in the Baltic Sea.  The trip ended with a whirlwind weekend visit to Berlin.  Students saw the Bundestag, museums, the Brandenburg Gate, along with many historical city parks and sites.

Their German counterparts will visit B-CS in April, 2011 to sample Texas culture at its best!

August, 2010

A group of six Japanese high school students and their sponsors from Koriyama, Japan visited B-CS for approximately one week.  This was part of a multiple city tour that the students made.  Representatives of B-CS Sister Cities were introduced at a  reception.  The Koriyama group desires cultural friendship with our organization.

Sister Cities monthly meetings are held at the Convention & Visitors Bureau, 715 University Drive on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 PM, 260-9898.
