| Greifswald, Germany

JULY, 2008–Ten students along with their sponsors departed for Greifswald, Germany flying from Houston to Berlin. In Berlin the group boarded a train for the Baltic region of Greifswald. Trips that the group experienced included the University of Greifswald, a World War II prison, the Wooded Wieck Bascule Bridge, the Pommerschesi Landes Museum, a yacht building business, and ruins of an ancient Cistercian Monestery.
Additionally, the group watched an exciting World Cup Soccer match between Germany and Spain while enjoying wonderful German cuisine. Another highlight was swimming in the Cold waters of the Baltic, unlike the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico.
While visiting Berlin the students transited historic Check Point Charlie, the former gate linking the United States area with Former East Germany. Another highlight was seeing remnants of the Berlin Wall and the Memorial to Murdered Jews of Europe by sculptor Peter Eisenman.
JULY 2000–In July, 2000 students from College Station and Bryan had an opportunity to spend two weeks in Greifswald, Germany, where the cool weather of the Baltic Sea coast formed a sharp contrast with the record high temperatures in Texas.

Nine high school students and two sponsors from Greifswald, Germany, toured Brayton Fire Training Field and Disaster City this week as part of a 10-day visit to Texas. Tour guides included Laura Shehan, Ron Peddy and Jim Yeager of TEEX. The students were participating in a student exchange through the Bryan-College Station Sister Cities program. The German visitors hosted 10 local high school students and two sponsors who visited Greifswald in 2008.
